I have a small cottage garden and am fascinated by the flowers that grow here. A flower is so small and, consequently, often goes unnoticed. I have made the time to stop and observe several - their vibrant colours, delicate structures, and sheer elegance.
‘My paint brush always gives a tremor of pleasure when I let it paint a flower,’ wrote Winifred Nicholson, in her 1969 essay The Flower’s Response. I have experienced a similar sensation.
